Anyone who watched this season of Britain’s Got Talent would have been baffled by Stevie Starr aka The Regurgitator. Well, I’ve seen how he does it.
Warning: Read on only if you want to spoil the magic of it.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you because after you know how it is done, the act is not amazing anymore.
So how does he do it? Well I figured it out from the following video:
Did you see it? Watch closely from 1:26 to 1:34. Saw it?
Here’s a breakdown of what happens:
- 1:26 – He puts down the light bulb
- 1:30 – He brings up the coin
- 1:33 – Finally he brings up the light bulb again
Still didn’t see it? @1:29 the bulb should be in his stomach, but you see it when he puts his special ‘sound effect’. Check the image, the bulb is still there in his mouth – you can clearly see it. He keeps it in the back of the mouth. When ‘swallowing’ he uses his tongue to make it look like he really swallowed it.
I must say he is really brilliant at what he does. Unfortunately the camera was in the wrong position in this video revealing his secret.
Well there you go. What did you think of Stevie Starr and his act? Do you agree with this explanation? Leave a comment.
Eurgh… that kind of puts me off.
that means that amanda (the judge) was in on it when she gave him the ring. he had 2 rings. one with the lock already on it already in his mouth and the one we got to see. he then just “regurgitated” te one that was already in his mouth, right?
I would think so. Would you really give your engagement ring for someone to swallow?
@florin3k3, I disagree, he could do it without her knowing. You’ll notice he didn’t have her put the ring in his mouth. As he turned towards the stage, his two hands come together as he locks another lock around her ring. He hides this in his hand as he presents her ring to the audience back at the table. At this point, the trick is already done and the lock and key he gives to Amanda is strictly theatrics.
He expels the original lock/ring combo and a key that he already had in his mouth, leaving the lock/key combo in his mouth.
His ability to sort the items that are in his mouth or back of his throat is still commendable.
Oh jesus christ…Any time someone thinks that a TV judge/host is in on the trick, you can automatically tune them out as being unworthy of human communication.
no, Amanda was not in on it. He did what any good magician does, and that is slight of hand. watch the video of when he takes her ring…he turns his back to the judges/audience and fiddles with something in his hands. could it be….he is putting the lock around the ring before he gets back to his place on stage?? yes.
when he swallows the ring, it’s already on a lock….so when it comes back up it’s on the same original lock. the 2nd lock that goes in stays in there until after he’s gone off stage.
still a great trick.
he had allready swallow it when he walks back to the stage you know “ajb”
he had already swallowed the ring when he turned his back. thing is you wouldnt be able to talk if there is a pool ball at the back of your mouth now could you or if there was a light bulb there. he could just not have swallowed it propaly (don’t know how it’s spelt)
You’ll notice he never talks with the larger objects in his throat…he only makes his scream noise.
or how could he bring a coin with the number he wants ….. cant explain that can you
No arguing the guy has major talent but without either keeping them stacked or putting them in 5 different places, He would need to “feel” the surface of each coin with his stomach innards to feel the various number patterns. The fact that the objects come up dry, in my opinion, does not help one believe they are actually coming from his stomach unfortunately.
Thank you for this picture.
Now we know how he do it 🙂
hmmm. i dono if it’s exactly like that . how could he talk with the billiard ball in his throat? how comes that everything in his throat come back dry? how does he know the number of the coins? and that is not all he can do. how do you explain the sugar in the following video? or many other things? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZFIRhJrHJE
Please show me which video he actually speaks words and has a large object in his mouth. It’s the one thing that I’ve tried to find. Sure, he makes noise, but speaking would certainly give away an airway obstruction. You’ll notice that in the video where he does the linking of the key rings (Leno), he goes up to “itch his nose” right before the stunt…and oddly…after he puts the staged key rings in, he does speak a few sentences and his words are a bit slurred (especially the Ss)
i’m not sure if you’ve kept up with his run on america’s got talent this year, but it seems the proof you were looking for is here.
he clearly says “oh boy” after he swallows the pool ball, and i cant seem to see any yellow in his mouth when he brings it back up. id really like to know how he does it. either he has seen this article and improved his technique or the explanation of his trick isn’t sound proof.
He doesn’t swallow anything I think. Maybe he has a cleft?
How do you explain the sugar trick ????
One possibility is something called Magic Sand…I think YouTube has a few videos.
How do you explain the one where he swallows gas. Talks for a bit, then breathes fire about five minutes later? He did this one live at my Su bar.
Did he drink alcohol before breathing fire?
Fire-breathers don’t use gas. They use something similar to lighter fluid. A much less impossible feat with liquid – and a much more impressive misdirection!*

how does he spit out the sugar dry in his performance on czech got talent ????
It is not a trick but real, the biljardball and so on are really swallowed, it isn’t a trick and so it can not be revealed as one!
You guys are so dumb! Apparently, you all know NOTHING of Hogwartz and their curriculum. He studied under Dumbledor, you know. That’s what I heard from this girl who lives next door to this guy who shouts everything’s he hears from his cousin’s uncle’s sister’s neice.
You can store or hide objects behind your tongue at the epiglottis and you can easily put it out. I tried that with large fruit seeds. For the coins, maybe there is a special pouch at his upper palate so that he can easily manage small objects with his tongue.
Great deduction, Holmes! However, that doesn’t explain how he can bring up numbered coins in whatever order his audience says? I’ll just say that I have no clue how he does it, but isn’t that the whole point of people like him and magicians-to keep us guessing??!! 👍😊😊
How then, did he keep a cup of sugar and a glass of water in his mouth, then regurgitate the DRY sugar? Of course, how did he do that if it WAS in his stomach?
[…] Got Talent, which also confounded experts on how he does it. Some folks make a case for explaining the secret of how the Regurgitator does the trick, but he is still a great […]
You can actually see the light bulb as you stated, but he still amazes me.
I think I saw the slight of hand w/the lightbulb. (I think)! However, a gastro-intestinal surgeon watched it and said that there was any explanation on all he does it. BUT……….another magician said that this type of act was something that was done in those old circuses before TV. So who knows?
I knew it was magic but I’m glad you showed us how it’s done. I’m not into this guy at all. It kinda grosses me out.
Idiot. If you watched the original video he said he can bring up the key while the bulb is in the way. If you actually watch the video you would have seen him say that. But hey, good job with your detective work there.
I think u just guessing and haven’t actually figured anything out. Your analysis of what’s happening is lacking to say the least. But nice try…
